Day 7 – Saturday
As planned, we woke up at 5:30 am and headed out for the Beartooth Highway, also known as the “Most Beautiful Highway in America”. It’s true, and the girls slept through it all. We saw Mountain Goats!

When the girls woke, we stopped in Cooke City, just outside of the NE Yellowstone entrance for coffee and hot chocolate.

Once in Yellowstone we drove though the Lamar Valley and saw bison, bears, and a giant waterfall in the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone.
We stopped at the Mud Volcano, Dragon’s Mouth and geothermal area.
The bison love it there because the sulfur smell and the mud help keep the mosquitos away.
The mud also helps them from getting sun burned (a ranger told us this, when Violet asked if bison liked the heat from the “stinky mud”).
We rode our bicycles to the Fishing Bridge Ranger station to pick up the girls Jr. Ranger packets and learned that they will earn actual patches.
Speaking of mosquitos, no one at the Fishing Bridge RV Park sits outside at night because the bugs are FIERCE.
Schroeders, bison and bears, oh my!
