Hiking Glacier
Today started slow, as you may expect, but that was okay, as it was super cold and pouring rain. We explored using the heater in the RV (not used during "test camp") so Jason had the manuals out again.
We finally made it to Glacier National Park!! We went to Lake McDonald Lodge for some exploring. The girls saw the classic red "Jammer" and were disappointed to find that all the tours were already booked.
We asked a nice lodge employee what trail she thought would be best and offered us an easy 2.5 mile hike to John's Lake. That sounded perfect, but we were headed strait up and I kept complaining to Jason that this trail was hardly "easy". Everyone we saw had hiking sticks, heavy boots, and bear spray (or guns). After 40 minutes of this, I was certain something was wrong. We never did find John's Lake, but we found a beautiful creek instead. Wouldn't you know it, on the way down, we found the sign for John's Lake about 400 yards from the trail head. Our mistake almost took us to Sperry Chalet, which would have been 6+ miles of more "straight up". It was still amazing and the kids were real troopers.
The hike was worth it , great family picture. Hope the weather starts getting warmer.
